Atli has been working on the album 7 Cycles in his studio for the past few years, and the album truly shows that a lot of work has gone into the album and every detail has been taken care of. However, the arrangements of the compositions are simple, and about the genesis of the album’s works, Atli says.
7 Cycles explores the idea that our lives progress in 7-year long cycles. Some of the compositions on the album are new, others I have been with for a long time, so you could say that the pieces are symbols of different and different “circles” in my own life. I also wanted to work with solo piano on the album, which can be a very revealing outfit for the compositions, especially when you’re used to working with large orchestral arrangements. It could therefore also be said that on the album the compositions are presented in a plain and revealing costume, it includes a certain sincerity and the revelation of the feelings that live behind the works
