Nanna released the song „Disaster Master” today, but the song will be on her forthcoming solo album, which will be released on May 5th by Republic Records. The song is written by Nanna and produced by Josh Kaufman (Bob Weir, The National, The War on Drugs.)
„I wrote “Disaster Master” just before I left Iceland to record at Dreamland Studios in New York. Dreamland is a recording studio in an old church. The acoustics in the hall are absolutely beautiful and it’s nice to record in a space that gives a lot of inspiration. The song was quite raw when I came out with it, but when I shared my ideas with Josh, we were immediately very excited over the possibilities that the song had. We immediately felt that textures, brass and the acoustics in the church should dominate the journey” Nanna says that the song calls for big themes on the album and is definitely a reference to her title song: chaos with open arms” – says Nanna.

„Disaster Master” follows Nana’s first two singles, „Godzilla” and „Crybaby” from her upcoming solo album, How to Start a Garden. Nanna is going on a concert tour in the USA this summer, where she will perform at the Newport Folk Festival and the Outside Lands music festival in San Francisco. She will also perform at two concerts at the Iceland Airwaves music festival in November. Stream and pre-save HERE
