The band Molda from Westman Islands just released their seventh single, a new cover of the song ,,Álfareiðin”.
The song is an old and well-known Icelandic folk song, and is played every year in January in the festival called Þrettándinn.
The Thirteenth has been celebrated continuously in the Westman Islands since 1948. Many people come to the festival where Grýla, Leppalúdi, The YuleLads, trolls, elves and other gendered creatures greet the Christmas festival with the Islanders and their guests.
The festival is an amazing spectacle and is shrouded in mystery.
The band has been operating since 2020 and has already been very powerful in the Icelandic music scene, where the songs Ymur Jörð, Málmhaus, Láttu mig vera and others have been played on Icelandic radio stations. The band has been performing live quite a lot this year, as a warm-up act at Skonrokk in Concert Hall Harpan and were among the advertised bands at Rokk in Reykjavík.
