Anna puts a lot of effort into the lyrics, which have one foot in reality and the other in dream worlds.
On the occasion of the release of the album “Modern Age Ophelia“, a concert will be held in Björtuloftum in Harpa on January 10. The singer and songwriter Anna Sóley released the album in September last year. In her music, different trends come together; modern jazz, pop and folk music. Anna studied jazz singing in Arnhem in the Netherlands and studied literature both in Iceland and in the Netherlands.

The album’s theme is stories that deal with the boundaries between past and present, reality and fiction, and perhaps most importantly, intriguing characters. There are also some experiments with poetry performance and spoken language over tones.
The band consists of great key members of the Icelandic music scene:
Mikael Máni Ásmundsson – guitar
Birgir Steinn Theodórsson – double bass
Magnus Tryggvason Eliassen – drums
Steingrímur Teague – piano / keyboard / vocals
Tumi Árnason – tenor saxophone
The concert is on the 10th of January and starts at 20.00. Ticket price is ISK 3,500 and you can buy ticketshere.
Students, senior citizens and the disabled receive a special discount.
