Jóhanna Seljan is an Icelandic singer/songwriter, a poet and an entertainer that has been performing since the age of sixteen. Jóhanna began writing poems and lyrics at the early age of eight and started writing melodies when she was nineteen.
Throughout her career Jóhanna has taken part in many musical shows, been in all sorts of bands and has done quite a bit of session singing. She has been directing and singing in the Icelandic female acapella group Fjarðadætursince 2011 and she was also a lead singer in The Borrowed Brass Blues Band(2016-2019).

Her first solo album, Seljan, was released in 2020. It consists of songs from her early songwriting years as well as songs written in the period 2016-2019. Jóhanna is a versatile singer, she likes to take on challenges and push her limits when it comes to genres and vocal range. From the softest jazz to the heaviest metal. Quiet and strong, shy and confident, she likes to flirt with every style.
Strangelove is a goosebumps type of a song that talks about two individuals going through all the motions and confusion that love tends to bring and even throughout all of that you can hear the softness and warmth in Jóhanna’s voice as it expresses these emotions.

A new album is already in the making. This time Jóhanna is collaborating with Sturla Már Helgason, a talented piano player and a producer. Together they are making an electronic eighties/nineties vibe music with that subtle hint of nostalgia. The one that makes you close your eyes and pop back into time for a moment.
