Tuesday, October 4, Ásgeir released the fourth and final single from the upcoming album Time On My Hands, which will be released by the publishing company One Little Independent on October 28.
The song titled Borderland is relaxed and a good testimony to the self-confidence of the artist who plays with the interplay of tones and colorful imagery. Ásgeir has the following to say about the song:
„The creation of the song was very effortless, but it is also the last song I wrote for the album. I was playing around on an old MemoryMoog in Hlóðrita and created a loop of synths and drum machines and then I spanned a melody on top of that. Once I had the outline of the song, I got my father to write the lyrics. He sent me a text in Icelandic with the title “Á milli svefns og vöku ” which in the English translation received the title Borderland. The text is about a man who is between sleep and wakefulness and dreams that he is on his way to meet his love. In this dreamlike state he hears her speak and sing, but he always wakes up before he reaches her. In this state between sleep and wakefulness, creativity is said to be at its peak”
Ásgeir has a lot going on this year, because along with releasing a new album, he recently celebrated the 10th anniversary of the album Dýrð í dauthögn with a big concert in Harpa and the release of the cover of the album Stór agnarögn. These days Ásgeir is on a concert tour around Europe that started on September 28 and ends on October 17.
