Emmanuel is a Nigerian singer with Icelandic citizenship and is a songwriter under the stage name NonyKingz. Emmanuel has been living in Iceland for the past 7 years. In 2014, he moved to the Philippines where he studied business, and only a year later he met a woman named Amanda Eir, who is the first Icelander he has met in his life.

Emmanuel and Amanda fall in love and then there was no turning back for him and he makes the decision to move home with her to Iceland.

“I love living in Iceland, everything is so quiet and safe here, sometimes it’s a bit cold for my taste, but despite that I’m grateful to be here with my beautiful family that my wife and I have created” – Emmanuel

Emmanuel does not come to the country empty-handed, but brings with him, among other things, his culture of African music in many African music styles such as Afro-pop, Afro-dancehall and Afro-house. It can be said that he is a unique musician within Icelandic culture.

“I love being an artist, I have a lot of passion for what I do. For me, music is like a calling that I have to answer.” – NonyKingz.

NonyKingz says that living and making music in Iceland can be both challenging but also inspiring as his hope and goal is to connect with people in Iceland and around the world through music and bring diversity into the music scene.

NonyKingz says that living and making music in Iceland can be both challenging but also inspiring as his hope and goal is to connect with people in Iceland and around the world through music and bring diversity into the music scene.

”It is not possible to compare African musical culture and Icelandic musical culture. African music culture is so big and we have so many world-renowned musicians who have worked on songs with Beyonce, Ed Sheeran, etc. Nevertheless, Iceland has excellent musicians, but the music culture here is much smaller than what I am used to. it can be difficult to get Icelanders to open the door for collaboration with an African musician like me, but I’m slowly getting to know the right people and everything is on the right track” – Emmanuel

Emmanuel recently released an EP called ”ASTRO CHOCO” which is about having good times and feeling loved because that feeling evokes good feelings and you can listen here and you can also watch the visual for ”Chocolate Boy” here.

“My hope is to get Icelanders to let African music into their hearts more” – Emmanuel
